Tips for your driving test

We know that getting your driver’s license can be an exciting adventure but it is also a big responsibility. Taking your road test, better known as driving test is a life changing opportunity and it can be nerve wracking, but here you will find a lot of ways to prepare yourself so you can ensure you pass that test:

Before you schedule your road test

One of the best ways to ensure you are going to pass the test is to practice, another person can help you with that, this is one of the most important things because you will feel comfortable behind the wheel of a car and that will make the difference at the time you are taking your test. We know practice is extremely necessary because that is going to determinate how well you are going to be at the time of your demonstration.

Another good idea is to practice in an empty parking lot so you can improve your skills at parking and that will be so much better at the time of your exam.

Also, we suggest that you get familiar with the car you are going to take the test with and not just one you’re sitting in for the first time. It’s better for you to know where the controls are for everything and not just start looking for it after you start your driving test, because they way each car’s brake and gas pedals reacts is so different, so knowing how sensitive these are can help you avoid braking or accelerating too hard or too soft.

The day before your exam

Before you can even start driving, your car will be inspected to make sure that it meets all the requirements, so it is better for you if the car you’re taking to the test site goes through a pre-test inspection. Make sure everything is in order (headlights, brake lights, blinkers, etc.) or you will automatically fail. Also, make sure you understand where the basic buttons are in your car and how to use them.

On the day of the driving test

Take the vehicle you feel comfortable driving with and that you had practice a lot before. Since you will already know how to handle everything about that car it will be easier for you to turn the lights on and off, if it starts to rain, use your wipers and once it stops you can turn them off.

You will need to adjust the mirrors of the vehicles before the test not during it, place your hands in the correct way on the steering wheel and don’t stop too close to the vehicle in front of you when you need to stop.
